Hi, I'm Brigid. I'm 33 and first developed Hidradenitis suppurativa when I was in grade school (around the time I began puberty) so I've had it at least 20 years now. I'm lucky that it hasn't progressed too badly in that time, but I still feel gross and hate my skin and there have been times where I've called off work or cancelled social engagements because of the pain.

My current treatment plan includes wearing all-natural fabrics, as loose fitting as possible, and bathing with a scrub brush and anti-bacterial soap followed up with hibiclens. I recently started taking zinc (preliminary studies from 2007 showed beneficial results, no follow up studies have been published that I've found) and turmeric (there is NO clinical data on this, but what the hell).
